To explain further, after you see where your first letter needs to be (in your mind) for the others to follow, you’ll need to move them in an order to make way for that first letter
I am having trouble understanding this part too. Does the puzzle wants us to remove the letter from the grid, swap around or what exactly?
I thought I had done everything correctly as well and had the wrong extraction grid answer. There is more than one way to order one of the clues, this changes the extraction grid answer.
@Ofir Try this way, after finding all the correct 6-letter words.
Also, I think the rule which says, “You cannot slide a letter onto or through another letter.” is kind of partially correct because yes, you cannot slide a letter and position it onto another letter, but you can pass through another letter. At least, that’s how I solved it.
Attempt to clarify the sliding rules:
-
you can only move the letters from the word you’re trying to align at the time;
-
you can only move the letters for as many continuous empty spots there are around them, horizontally, vertically or diagonally.
Example: if you start with the word containing the letter N, you could only move N one square down or one square diagonally; if you start with the word containing Y, you can move Y anywhere on its row, one square up or one on the top right diagonal;
-
edit: once you move a letter, that’s its final position; you cannot move it anymore;
-
once you align a word, note where the letters are located and erase them from the board; you’ll then be able to move the remaining letters further;
-
repeat for the remaining two words;
-
you’ll find one word automatically removed, since all its letters were contained in the other three words;
-
check where those letters were when they got removed;
-
find what’s in their location on the other grid, in the order in which the clue word is spelled.
Can I move a letter in a single direction as much as I want? for example can I move a letter three times to the right then 2 times up and 3 times diagonally?
No, you can move a letter once, in only one direction, and the movement can be any number of spaces/cells (one or more).
absolutely ^^ almost drove me mad
This is not a puzzle, this is a confusing misleading mess.
The instructions are not instructions.
The role of the defender is not a real defender by standards of defense in sports conventions…
And there’s at least another word for “non slip process” that fits the puzzle.
Meh
I’m don’t want to sound like one that’s trying to find excuses, but if you think straight and do as told, the instructions don’t make any sense whatsoever.
Letters to move out of the way, people crossing over them, no clear directions on what to and what not to do, and if you do what you should not do, you can still solve it.
It’s chaos.
Yes, that defender in hockey or soccer is debatable because in those two sports almost everyone has to defend against the ball reaching their own goal post. I think this is the only clue that is a bit confusing.
I’ve managed to solve the puzzle, but the final result is incorrect and its not a real word. I’m pretty sure I did everything correctly. that’s pretty frustrating.
Check if your solution from the remaining riddle is correct. There are two possible words.
I’ve solved it by the way.
shit ruined my day,bbbbbbbbbbb
Instructions are very confusing & unclear
The 2 grids make it difficult to follow…
I’ve figured out all 4 six letter words
I’m sure they are correct there’s no other possible 6 letter words to describe those clues they gave…
I’ve tried so many different sequences and exhausted my mind on this one.
I’m at the point im about to throw in the towel on this puzzle and try again with something new tomorrow… I am beyond flustered.
I got 2 remaining words left as well
I’m going through the same thing…I feel your pain
Were all mad here
The first time I did the sliding everything was technically in straight lines and following the rules but there are multiple ways to do it which changes the final letters you get
Ok I managed to solve it. Thanks mate for the comments. They helped but there were a few that confused me so I’ll try to put things in order that I didn’t understand:
- You can move each letter of the word you are trying to assemble once, in one direction (no limit of steps in the same direction, just don’t leave the grid).
- No need to move/pass through other letters, just a clean path.
- When you try to form a word it is possible (and desirable) to start with a letter that is not the first in the word. That is, the order of the letters in the word has no meaning. For example, if I want to arrange the word “ABCD” I can start by moving “C”.
Good luck
