Thoughts on Puzzle 33: Connectivity Test

Try to complete two separate grills, one with the words containing birds names and the other with the rest 12 words, you will see the answer. Good luck!

Once again, I’m missing something very obvious.i I fit 12 words, and I’m guessing the other words fit by somehow taking their meaning or fitting them between the grid?
I don’t understand what the little birds are supposed to be.
And i sure don’t see any words for the solution.

Can anyone please break some hints down to me like I’m a three year old?

Edit: Birds names in the other words. Still don’t know how to fit them into the grid

Now that the puzzle is expired, anyone care to show how the solved it using the phrases with bird names in them?

Hilary Swank etc. Fill in the grid accordingly with all clues similar to this. They will all fit if you go about it the right way. Then empty the grid and fill it in again with the remaining clues. Bish bash bosh, job done.

Lol, I thought the birds were in the phrases that aren’t going in the grid.
So they “fit in” without actually fitting in. I did try to get them in there but it didn’t work out for me and then I noticed I get the answer with the bird free phrases.

What’s the point in trying to fit them all in and then emptying the grid etc? :woman_shrugging:

The easiest I can think of is to start by counting the boxes down/across and match them up with the lenghts of the phrases. There are some 11-, 14-, and 16-letter phrases that you can cross out right away, as they will not fit in. Fill the letters into the boxes only when you are sure the phrase fits with the boxes already filled.

Solution Spoiler

Start e.g. with the leftmost one down, which has 13 boxes. Only 3 phrases have 13 letters (spaces and punctuation ignored). At the same time, try to fit in the boxes across, so that the respective letters match up at the crossing boxes.

Result Spoiler

Once you have the crossword all filled in, look at the birds.
