Something that tends to be related in triplets (Rock, paper, scissors (sets of nouns). Live, laugh, love (idioms). Lock, stock and barrel (phrases). Come, go, stay (verbs) etc).

famous trios or triplets. Maybe add in an example like ear nose throat. Once you get a good list, it reeeeealy helps.

I’m pretty sure I’ve solve it, but the extra letters don’t spell any meaningful word. Are the letters scrambled?

you can reduce the complexity class to P and less, but this wouldn’t solve it in this sense (or you have a multi-dimensional dictionary containing categories or whatever). clue 2 gives some hints here for the reduction imho. 
Also you don’t need to solve any of the clues in theory to get to the solution, or maybe just one or two.

The final letters are not scrambled. They form an uncommonly used word though

I can’t believe I solved it! I didn’t even need to solve all the words to guess the password. It was luck! I thought it was impossible

Anyone have good recommendations for a site with list of trios?
I recomend you search “Rule of three” in google. Gives better results than with “trios” or “triplets”. You can enter the first links, or take a look at the images, where there are slides or lists. That’s how I got some clues.

The entire thing took me an hour to do. I didn’t finish the puzzle, though I entered the right answer. I decided that after figuring out 4 and 9 that i would try to brute force it. Seeing the huge word pool, I decided to only look at the words that started with the letters possible from the first word. Dismayed at this still, I went a step further. I entered all the words, and got nowhere. However. I had read that the word was definitely in the word list from this chat (thank you guys) so I pressed on. I repeated it a third time before giving up, and I saw a clue about No. 6 and figured it out. This narrowed the search down to 10 words, and none of them worked. I then saw a reddit post which used No. 2 and got down to 2 words. Finally, the word I had entered 4 or 5 times now worked and I entered. But, that was a horrible experience, and very stressful, and it didn’t help that I left it until that last moment to do as well.
Got my list down to 8 possible words. I won’t be able to submit my answer.
The solve webpage is throwing a 4xx error. Talk about frustration 
All the ones I found had limits of 12 letters or fewer, which one did you use which had a higher limit?
